I should have jumped on the treadmill for my running today but after the cold and 9.5 miles walking I just couldn't move. Put that with starting the training this week and I am pooped! I am this way every time I start back to running. I am so glad I have the ability to do week one over next week. This week has been one sore week!
Let me tell you about my first run which I thought I would die on. I downloaded the Jeff Galloway app for the walk/run approach to my next half marathon. I had been running 10 minute miles in the late fall so I figured that I could do that this time around too. I "told" my app I was on the treadmill and to my HUGE surprise it told me to start running at 7.0 mph. What? That's like an 8:34 minute pace. How in the world does Jeff think I can run a 8:34 minute mile?
Needless to say...my workout went downhill after the first 2 minutes. Ugh! I was feeling really bad until I looked up the mph converter. Then I felt pretty good because I could almost do the first 3 minutes at that pace. Now you must also know that I haven't ran in a month or so. It was quiet the challenge to not get off the treadmill and use all sorts of profanity towards it. I made it through with my psyche in tack and still wanting to come back! Just not tonight.
